LKQ Aquafax is supporting the Morvargh Sailing Project through the installation of Navico Group’s B&G navigation electronics aboard the sail training vessel Helen Mary R.
The upgrade will provide young sailors with hands-on experience using professional navigation equipment while helping ensure the vessel continues to operate safely during offshore training voyages.
Morvargh Sailing Project provides sail training opportunities for young people aged 14–19, using offshore sailing to build confidence, teamwork and practical skills through real-world experiences at sea.
The vessel’s navigation system upgrade will include B&G chartplotters, radar and wind instrumentation, giving trainees the opportunity to learn modern electronic navigation techniques using the same equipment found on many offshore sailing vessels. Through the partnership, LKQ Aquafax will highlight how modern navigation technology supports sail training and helps introduce young people to the technical side of the marine industry.
Nikita Rabbette (Marine Marketing Manager at LKQ Leisure and Marine) said: “Sail training gives young people the opportunity to develop confidence, teamwork and practical skills in a unique environment. Supporting this project allows young sailors to learn navigation using professional marine electronics while also showcasing how technology plays a vital role in modern sailing.”
The installation of Navico B&G equipment will ensure the vessel remains equipped with reliable navigation systems while continuing to support youth development through sail training. The initiative also highlights the role of the marine industry in supporting future talent and encouraging interest in maritime careers and technical skills.
