Ibiza JoySail Superyacht Regatta is on course for its sixth edition, which will be held from 17 – 20 September in Ibiza and Formentera. The launch of the invitation process signals the start of the organising committee’s preparations for a new edition of this flagship event on the international superyacht racing calendar.
This exclusive, invitation-only event brings together a meticulously selected international fleet every year. The invitation process unfolds in several phases, beginning with yachts that have already taken part in previous editions and later extending to new sailing yachts that have expressed interest in joining the regatta, always in line with the spirit and format of the event.
As a new feature, the 2026 edition will be open to sailing yachts from 80 feet in length, organised into different categories according to design, specs and sporting expectations. These include the Corinthian category, created for non-professional crews and owners who wish to compete without altering their yacht’s cruising configuration, and without the need to optimise their boats or meet complex technical requirements. This approach encourages an inclusive and accessible spirit that forms part of Ibiza JoySail’s DNA.
This category structure offers balanced and appealing racing for each class, from yachts with a more cruising-oriented focus to higher-performance vessels, while always preserving fairness on the water and the accessible nature of the competition.
Organised by STP Shipyard Palma and Marina Ibiza, Ibiza JoySail has established itself as a regatta that combines demanding racing on the water with a vibrant experience on dry land. Over four days, the sporting programme is complemented by a carefully designed schedule of onshore activities for owners, crews, families and guests, all coming together to highlight one of the event’s core concepts: racing with family & friends.
“Ibiza JoySail has grown while always staying true to its essence. We have fine-tuned the format edition after edition to offer a well-structured regatta, with clear categories and an atmosphere where owners, crews and friends can enjoy both sailing and shared time ashore, always in a unique, safe and welcoming atmosphere”, says Nacho Postigo, Director of Ibiza JoySail.
One of the true highlights of Ibiza JoySail is its Perpetual Trophy, awarded to the yacht that completes the crossing between Mallorca and Ibiza in the shortest time. This challenge, now firmly established as one of the event’s milestones, has seen standout performances in previous editions and adds a strategic and sporting dimension that enhances the regatta’s appeal on the international superyacht circuit.
The event also enjoys the support of sponsors such as North Sails, Southern Wind, Mangusta, Super Oh!, Monzó Yacht Painting, Varadero Ibiza, Consell de Ibiza, Repsol and Yacht Moving, among others, as well as the collaboration of Club Náutico de Ibiza and Real Club Náutico de Palma.
All these partners play a key role in maintaining the high level of organisation and quality that characterise Ibiza JoySail both at sea and on shore. The regatta is held under the SYRA framework and benefits from the technical support of ORC, reinforcing its positioning on the international superyacht circuit.
With a limited number of entries and a well-established format, Ibiza JoySail is making headway towards its 2026 edition, upholding a proposal focused on quality, shared experiences and the enjoyment of sailing in one of the most privileged settings in the Mediterranean.
