Marina Port de Mallorca recently conducted a full-scale emergency drill focused on enhancing response procedures and preparedness for potential incidents within the marina setting.
The morning-long exercise combined theoretical sessions with hands-on drills covering a range of emergency scenarios, including onboard fires and hydrocarbon spills at sea.
The session opened with a review of emergency response procedures, followed by practical firefighting training involving extinguishers, hoses and portable pumps. The programme then moved on to a series of targeted drills, including a marine spill response exercise and several onboard fire simulations, before culminating in a full-scale emergency drill.
“Drills of this kind are key to keeping teams prepared and able to respond quickly and effectively to any potential incident,” said José María Roig, Harbourmaster at Marina Port de Mallorca. “We carry out exercises like these every year because we know that ongoing training and prevention are essential to ensuring the safety of the marina itself, the yachts berthed here and everybody who works at or visits the facility.”
These exercises are part of Marina Port de Mallorca’s ongoing commitment to safety and prevention, helping teams stay prepared and coordinated in the face of real-life emergency situations. Initiatives such as these reflect the marina’s continued focus on ongoing training, operational safety and the protection of the surrounding marine environment.
