Isle of Man Stamps & Coins presents Peel Traditional Boats by Nicola Dixon

Isle of Man Post Office has announced that it will issue six stamps based on works of Isle of Man-based artist Nicola Dixon, depicting Peel Traditional Boats.

Working closely with the Peel Traditional Boat Weekend Festival since 1994, Nicola drew simple line images for event t-shirts that became very recognisable and collectable. Over the years these line images were water-coloured so that they could double as event posters. Some of these popular works of art have now been turned into a vibrant stamp collection to be issued 13 May.

The collection features six stamps valued at 85p, £1.28, £1.51, £1.60, £2.31 and £3.21 and will be available as Set, Sheet Set, Presentation Pack and First Day Cover. To view the full collection visit www.iompost.com/PeelBoats

Artist Nicola Dixon said: “I am delighted that my work has been transformed into this wonderful set of stamps. These beautiful traditional boats will now travel the world in a very different form, commemorating the Peel Traditional Boat Weekend that has been part of the Island’s maritime calendar for so many years.”

Maxine Cannon, General Manager of Isle of Man Stamps and Coins, says: “The Isle of Man is incredibly lucky to have such an eclectic mix of so many talented artists. Working with Nicola Dixon to create these delightful stamps has been a pleasure. The Peel Traditional Boat Weekend Festival has been such an important event for so many traditional boat enthusiasts and we are honoured to be able to keep the memories alive with these colourful and energetic stamps.”
