PHC MARINA WELCOMES INTERNATIONAL FLEET FOR 2026 POOLE REGATTA AND IRC EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP

On the late May Bank Holiday weekend, 22–25 May, more than 150 yachts competed in Poole Harbour and Poole Bay, with 80 berthed at Poole Quay Boat Haven Marina for the International Paint Poole Regatta, one of the key highlights of the sailing calendar.

This year’s event also hosted the IRC European Championship, attracting an exceptional fleet of competitive racing yachts and crews from across Europe. Over the course of the four-day regatta, the marina was transformed into a vibrant hub of activity, with crews and supporters contributing to a fantastic atmosphere both on and off the water.

PHC’s Marina Manager, Kerrie Gray, said: “From early morning preparations through to the excitement of the racing and the lively evenings ashore, it was wonderful to see the marina and yacht clubs bustling throughout the weekend. We would like to thank all competitors, organisers, volunteers, yacht clubs and visitors for contributing to a memorable and successful regatta weekend. Events like these showcase not only the excitement and skill of competitive sailing, but also the strong sense of community that makes regattas so special.”

PHC’s Chief Executive, Captain Brian Murphy, said: “As a trust port, our purpose is to manage Poole Harbour in a way that delivers lasting benefit for our communities and stakeholders. Welcoming international fleets of this scale brings significant value to the local economy, supporting marine businesses, hospitality, and tourism across the wider area, while also showcasing Poole as a world-class sailing destination.”

Poole Harbour Commissioners look forward to welcoming competitors back for the next International Paint Poole Regatta in May 2028.
