Plymouth Yacht Haven, located in Mount Batten, Plymouth, Devon, has a rich history in the maritime community. As the largest marina in Plymouth, it hosted the finish for the prestigious Rolex Fastnet Race on the original course and has long been a key landmark for sailors.

The marina is well-protected from south-westerlies and offers deepwater access with no lock gates or tidal streams to worry about.
It makes life easy with on-water fuel services – diesel on-site and a canned petrol service just up the river at their sister marina, Yacht Haven Quay. Security’s top-notch with 24/7 CCTV, and you will find showers, toilets and laundry facilities always ready for you. Plus, the staff are helpful, knowledgeable and friendly, ensuring a warm welcome and excellent service.
Need marine supplies? The Mount Batten Boathouse has got you covered. Plus, the boatyard offers lifting and launching for boats up to 75 tonnes, with expert repair, refit, rigging and maintenance services available right on-site. There is also indoor storage in their large hangars, providing secure, weather-protected space for your vessel. It is a well-equipped, relaxed spot for both a quick stop or a longer stay.
ACCESS
By Land: If you are driving, just follow the A38 and you will find clear signs guiding you to the Mount Batten peninsula. Coming by train? Plymouth Railway Station has regular services, and local buses can take you straight to the marina. Or, for a more scenic route, hop on the Mount Batten Ferry – it runs daily and connects you to Plymouth’s historic Barbican in just minutes.
By Sea: You can enter via the Eastern or Western Channels, with safe access at all tide levels. The marina is well-sheltered behind the Mount Batten peninsula, offering calm waters for a smooth arrival. Give the marina a call on VHF Channel 80 or by phone for berthing instructions – friendly staff are available 24/7 to help you dock and get settled.
CRUISING
Plymouth Yacht Haven is the perfect starting point for a sailing adventure. If you are after a relaxing day trip, head east to the stunning River Yealm, where you will find peaceful anchorages and breathtaking scenery. For a weekend getaway, set sail for Salcombe, a charming harbour town famous for its picturesque estuary and lively maritime culture. Looking for something more adventurous? An extended voyage to the Isles of Scilly, around 100nm west, will reward you with pristine beaches and incredible wildlife.
OUT AND ABOUT
Plymouth is rich in maritime history, offering plenty to explore. Visit the Mayflower Steps, where the Pilgrims set sail in 1620, or take a trip to the Royal Citadel, a 17th-century fortress. For stunning views, head to The Hoe, which overlooks Plymouth Sound and the iconic Smeaton’s Tower lighthouse.
