Princess Yachts has reached a significant milestone in the development of its X90, with the first yacht completing fit-out at the company’s South Yard facility and now entering preparation for initial sea trials.
With her global debut set for this September at the Cannes Yachting Festival, the X90 remains firmly on track. Momentum continues to build around the new model, with a further four yachts currently in build and seven units already sold ahead of launch, underlining strong early demand.
“We are incredibly proud to see the X90 reach this important stage in her development,” said Will Green, CEO of Princess Yachts. “She represents a bold step forward for Princess, combining innovative design, advanced engineering and a deep understanding of how our customers want to live on the water. From the stunning, beach club-style cockpit to the revolutionary new hull form, every element has been carefully considered to enhance both the onboard experience and the performance.
“The strong demand we’ve seen ahead of launch reflects the excitement around this model which is a natural evolution of the highly successful X Class concept. This milestone is also a testament to the dedication and expertise of our teams. With sea trials imminent, we look forward to handing her over to her owner”
Positioned between the X80 and flagship X95 Vista, the X90 introduces a series of design innovations that emphasise exterior living and seamless indoor-outdoor transitions. Central to this is an expandable cockpit, a first for Princess Yachts. Fold-down terraces to both port and starboard extend the usable space, creating a versatile beach club-style environment with a closer connection to the water and a wonderful balance of open and shaded areas. Elegant curved patio doors connect the main deck dining area directly to the cockpit, while a reconfigured aft layout and glass transom maximise natural light and deliver uninterrupted panoramic views.
A defining feature of the X Class series is the Super Flybridge, combining an enclosed helm and Skylounge with an open-air aft deck. By relocating the primary helm position, the design unlocks significantly greater volume on the main deck, enabling more flexible and expansive living spaces throughout the yacht. On the X90, this concept has been further developed to deliver even greater space and versatility.
The X90 also introduces a revolutionary new hull form for Princess: The Hybrid Progressive-Planing (H.P.P.) hull, developed in collaboration with Olesinski. This advanced design combines proven seakeeping with refined hydrodynamics to deliver enhanced efficiency, extended range, and confident performance across the speed spectrum. Engineered to optimise performance at both low and high speeds, the H.P.P. hull enables the X90 to require approximately 10% less power above 16 knots compared to the Y85 (when displacements are normalised), while matching fuel consumption below 10 knots, despite being significantly larger.
Ahead of her public debut, Princess Yachts will host an exclusive preview event in London for invited guests, offering a first opportunity to experience the new X90 ahead of the Cannes Yachting Festival.
