Winter adventures in Yarmouth

The popularity of UK staycations is forecast to continue into 2022, which means even more sailors and boaters may have the chance to discover Yarmouth Harbour on the Isle of Wight’s northwest coast.

Yarmouth’s pretty harbour has enjoyed a highly successful season of visiting boats this year with many customers returning for repeat visits. Despite this, the harbour remains somewhat a hidden gem of the Solent, yet it is an important gateway to West Wight’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and known for its exceptional landscapes and coastal features.

Yarmouth welcomes visiting yachts and motorboats throughout the year and has over 150 berths available daily; these are allocated on arrival by the Berthing Masters. A limited number of berths can also be booked in advance. Unique to Yarmouth Harbour is the dedicated on-the-water berthing assistance provided to all visiting vessels to take the stress out of mooring up; useful to all visitors of course but especially those new to Yarmouth and/or new to boating.

For those hardy sailors who continue their boating adventures over the winter, Yarmouth Harbour is ready to extend a warm welcome. Visiting seafarers are invited to the port this December for some essential Christmas shopping in the town’s eclectic and boutique shops, and in particular between 11  22 December when Yarmouth Harbour Commissioners are supporting the new ‘Yarmouth On Ice’ all-weather skating event, including late night shopping and carols in the Square.
