GreenSeas Trust has installed a new BinForGreenSeas recycling unit on the Marine Promenade in New Brighton, bringing its campaign against plastic pollution to one of Wirral’s most popular waterfront locations.
Set alongside the Marine Lake and Floral Pavilion, the lifebuoy‑shaped bin will make it easier for residents and visitors to recycle plastic bottles while highlighting how everyday plastic waste affects the health of rivers, seas and coastlines.
Fazilette Khan MBE, Founder Trustee of GreenSeas Trust, said: “Around 80% of marine litter comes from land based sources. The BinForGreenSeas helps people make more sustainable choices by showing the impact of plastic pollution on our beaches, oceans to marine life.“
GreenSeas Trust is dedicated to stopping plastics from entering our oceans by tackling the problem at its source – human behaviour. Through its growing network of BinForGreenSeas installations, the charity prevents more than one million plastic bottles from reaching UK waters every year. Since launching in 2019, bins have been installed in Margate, Cardiff, Tyneside, Holyhead, Weymouth and London, as well as internationally in Qatar. Every new unit reinforces the Trust’s mission, helping ensure cleaner waterways and healthier coastlines for the future.
