RYA introduces new kite and wing surfing and foiling insurance member benefit

Members of the RYA can now take advantage of free third-party insurance for kite surfing, kite foiling, wing surfing and wing foiling as part of their RYA membership.

Working with member partner, Bishop Skinner Marine, members who list kite surfing, kite foiling, wing surfing or wing foiling as one of their boating interests, and live in the UK, will now automatically qualify for this new free insurance benefit.

“We are delighted to be able to bring this new benefit to our membership,” said Ben Falla, RYA head of membership.  “We have been approached by a number of members about the possibility of introducing insurance cover for these sports as part of their membership and with the introduction of our kite and wing, surfing and foiling courses and the growing popularity of these sports, we felt it would be a beneficial addition to our membership offer.”

Underwritten by Sportscover Europe, the insurance will cover members for their legal liabilities arising from their ownership of kite and wing, surfing and foiling equipment and includes liability cover for whilst the equipment is in use, in the UK and abroad*. On selection of kite or wing surfing or kite or wing foiling as a boating interest, members will be sent a copy of their policy documentation which will outline the coverage that is in place.

“We would encourage all members who take part in these activities to activate this insurance of part of their membership, giving them added peace of mind while they are out on the water,” Ben added.
