Valencia was once again the epicentre of sailing over the past week as it played host to the SM La Reina Trophy, one of the most iconic events on Spain’s sailing calendar. Now in its twenty-sixth edition, the regatta welcomed 126 yachts from ten countries, anchoring its status as a must-attend event for the Mediterranean’s top crews.
As sponsor of L’Immens Marina Port Valencia, owned by Nicolás Pesich and representing Club Náutico Ibiza, Marina Port Valencia underlined its commitment to competitive sailing and to initiatives that foster sailing culture.
From the outset of the championship, L’Immens Marina Port Valencia proved highly competitive in the ORC 2 class. The crew made an impressive start to the regatta, securing third place in both the first and third races, keeping them firmly in the hunt for the top positions in the overall standings. The closely matched fleet and the exceptionally high standard of competition meant that every race proved decisive in shaping the ultimate outcome of the championship.
However, during the second race, as the yacht was making its way towards the first mark of the course, the steering mechanism failed and left the boat without steerage. The incident forced the crew to retire from the race on safety grounds, a result that ultimately proved decisive in the final standings.
Despite this setback, the team continued to perform at a very high level throughout the remainder of the regatta, showcasing its adaptability and competitive spirit. L’Immens Marina Port Valencia ultimately finished fifth in the ORC 2 class, just twenty seconds away from snatching second place overall. This result reflects the team’s hard throughout the regatta and the potential of a crew that ranked among the category’s front-runners.
Each year, the SM La Reina Trophy stands as a benchmark for competitive sailing thanks to its organisation, the calibre of the participating clubs and the high standard of the competing yachts. The regatta draws in sailors and yacht owners from across the globe, turning Valencia into an international stage for sailing and further cementing its status as one of the leading destinations for major water-based events.
Thanks to L’Immens Marina Port Valencia’s participation in this year’s race, Marina Port Valencia played a role in one of the sailing calendar’s landmark events, supporting a sporting project built on dedication, teamwork and resilience. This vision reflects the marina’s commitment to promoting sailing and supporting initiatives that contribute to the growth and profile of the sector.
Through this sponsorship, Marina Port Valencia further strengthens its ties with competitive sailing and the Mediterranean’s leading sporting events, providing its support to projects that promote sailing and help position Valencia as an international benchmark for watersports.
