DORSET SEAFOOD FESTIVAL MAKES A SPLASH

The beloved seaside event formerly known as SEAFEAST is making waves once again as it returns to its roots and proudly reintroduces itself as the “Dorset Seafood Festival.”

The rebranded festival promises an even more immersive and delectable experience for seafood enthusiasts and festival-goers alike. The 2024 edition of the Dorset Seafood Festival is set to take place on the 7th and 8th of September at the scenic Weymouth Peninsula.

With a legacy that attracts over 10,000 visitors annually and raises money for The Fishermen’s Mission, the Dorset Seafood Festival has become a staple on the regional event calendar. This year, the festival is gearing up to be bigger and better than ever, featuring an expanded array of food stalls, exciting new additions, and the return of crowd-favourite attractions such as the Sound Waves Stage and School of Fish, the FREE kids’ Cookery Workshop organised by Weymouth College.

Among the highlights is the resurgence of the Wine Garden and Badger Brewery Beer Garden, providing attendees with the perfect accompaniments to the freshest seafood delights. Festival-goers can once again indulge in the finest local beverages, creating a harmonious blend of flavours to complement the ocean’s bounty.

The music stage, a perennial favourite, will be curated by none other than local legends – The Leggomen. Renowned for their eclectic taste and ability to set the perfect vibe, The Leggomen promise a musical experience that will elevate the festival atmosphere to new heights.

Along with the new sponsors (announcement to follow shortly) the Festival will remain open until 8pm on the Saturday evening, allowing attendees to enjoy a sundowner, dance and of course an evening seafood snack!

Philippa Gibb, Director of The Dorset Seafood Festival commented: “We are thrilled to unveil the Dorset Seafood Festival, a name that resonates with the essence and tradition of this spectacular event.  Our commitment to delivering an exceptional experience for seafood lovers remains steadfast, and this rebranding represents a celebration of our heritage and the vibrant culinary culture of Dorset.  We’re really pleased we’ve been able to bring the Festival back for 2024 and are excited to share the new additions, as well as welcoming back our regular stand-holders at this year’s event.”

As the festival approaches, anticipation is building not only among local residents but also among seafood enthusiasts from far and wide. The picturesque setting of Weymouth Peninsula, combined with the delicious offerings, promises a weekend filled with gastronomic delights and unforgettable memories. Join us on the 7th and 8th of September for a weekend of culinary delights at the Dorset Seafood Festival. Early Bird tickets available until the end of April.
