ROCKWOOL Racing has confirmed American Magic as the Danish team’s first Global Performance Partner, with an expanded commitment signalling the next phase in the strategic relationship between the two organisations.
The announcement, made ahead of the Mubadala New York Sail Grand Prix on 30-31 May, reflects the continued evolution of American Magic from an elite sailing team into a global high-performance sports and technology platform, while reinforcing ROCKWOOL Racing’s long-term commercial ambitions within SailGP.
Under the collaboration, American Magic will receive a range of integrated commercial rights, including branding on the Danish team’s F50, the first of which will be unveiled in New York this weekend.
“Formalizing American Magic’s role with ROCKWOOL Racing is a natural next step, reflecting both our long-term commitment to the team and our ambition to continue building a world-class property with international relevance,” said Tyson Lamond, CEO of American Magic Services.
Lamond continued: “American Magic has always represented something much broader than a sailing team, even if our sailing campaigns have traditionally been some of the most visible parts of the brand.
“This new partnership reflects both our confidence in SailGP’s long-term vision, and our ambition to help shape the future of high-performance sailing on a global stage.”
Through its Pensacola, Florida-based High Performance Center, American Magic operates SailGP’s first long-term North American training base and continues to expand its role across athlete development, technical innovation, composite manufacturing and strategic collaboration with organisations including US Sailing and America One Racing.
The partnership also reflects the continued commercial development of ROCKWOOL Racing, combining Danish sporting identity with American Magic’s technical expertise and infrastructure to further strengthen the team’s long-term partner proposition.
Since 2019, ROCKWOOL Group has served as the founding Title Partner to the team, a commitment recently renewed to 2032, marking the longest standing team title partnership in SailGP.
“As a team we’re incredibly pleased to welcome American Magic onboard as our Global Performance Partner,” said Dan Ritchie, Chief Commercial Officer at ROCKWOOL Racing.
“This is a meaningful step for us as American Magic brings world-class sailing expertise, technical infrastructure and a performance mindset that strengthens what we are building on and off the water.
“For ROCKWOOL Racing, this partnership reinforces the direction we want to take commercially: a Danish team with international ambition, backed by great partners who can help us grow the platform, tell stronger stories and compete at the highest level.”
