Young sailors from Grafham Sailing Club took to the water this weekend at Little Paxton Sailing Club, for the latest round of the Cambs Youth League, putting their sailing skills to the test in some challenging and windy conditions.
Despite the testing weather, the Grafham sailors showed fantastic determination and resilience, with Ellie Butler-Baines completing all three races and securing 1st place in the Under 12 category.
Sailing is certainly in Ellie’s blood. She has been around boats since she could walk, growing up in a sailing family with both her mum and dad keen sailors. But Ellie has well and truly caught the sailing bug herself and is now enjoying getting to grips with the family’s newest addition, an RS Tera. Her result at the weekend is a fantastic achievement and a reflection of her growing confidence, enthusiasm and determination on the water.
The Cambs Youth League provides a brilliant opportunity for young sailors to develop their racing skills, gain experience in different conditions and enjoy some friendly competition alongside other young people who share their passion for sailing.
With just one event remaining in this year’s Cambs Youth League, the series will conclude at Hunts Sailing Club in a few weeks’ time.
