Ancasta’s Summer Blast customer boating event has raised over £6000 for the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust, adding to their long-standing partnership, while bringing together owners, friends and families for a memorable weekend on and off the water.
Held from 27 – 28 June at Lymington Town Sailing Club, the two-day event welcomed more than 100 members of Ancasta’s growing owner community onboard a fleet of sailing yachts, catamarans and motor boats. The fleet included strong representation of the leading brands distributed by Ancasta in the UK, including Beneteau Sail, Beneteau Power, Lagoon Catamarans and Prestige Motor Yachts.
The weekend also marked the official launch of Ancasta’s new partnership with Goslings Rum, with guests enjoying the Bermudian producer’s signature Dark ‘n Stormy® cocktails throughout the event.
“We were delighted to see so many of our owners join us onboard their yachts and enjoy a fantastic weekend together on the water,” says Stuart Brotherton, Sales Director at Ancasta.
“Designed as a relaxed social gathering, the Summer Blast highlights our commitment to supporting customers long after they take ownership of their yacht. Buying a boat with Ancasta may seem like the end of the journey, but in reality it is the beginning of a new adventure and membership of a thriving boating community.
“Creating opportunities for owners to connect with like-minded boaters, share experiences and build lasting friendships is an important part of what we do.”
The event programme included informal racing on the Solent for sailing yacht owners, welcome drinks, an evening barbecue, live music and a charity auction in support of the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust.
Representatives from the Trust attended onboard its new Beneteau Oceanis 47,Peter Pan. The yacht has been made possible thanks to the generosity of long-term supporter, Peter A. Norrie (PAN).
Peter has always been inspired by the creator of Peter Pan, J. M. Barrie, who gifted all his royalties to the Great Ormond Street Hospital for children. Peter similarly has supported the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust over many years, and been inspired by Ellen’s own ambition and drive to support the young cancer survivors’ journey back to normal life.
Fun, but competitive auction
Competition was fierce during the lively auction, which featured a range of generously donated prizes.
Jade Beasley from the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust says: “Ancasta has been an active supporter of the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust and the work we do to inspire young people living through and beyond cancer for many years.
“This auction is another wonderful example of the generosity of the Ancasta team, their customers and partners. Without this continued support, we would be unable to help as many young people as we do today.”
Ancasta’s support for the Trust extends beyond fundraising events. For every new sailing boat sold, the company contributes to a sailing adventure with the Trust for one young person.
Stuart adds: “Everyone at Ancasta is incredibly proud to support the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust and the life-changing work it delivers.
“I would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who donated auction prizes, including Gusbourne, Chewton Glen, Stephen Lees, Aspinal of London, Ashling Park, Gill and Henry Lloyd.
“We sincerely hope the funds raised during the weekend will help the Trust continue to increase the number of young people it can support and introduce to the freedom, confidence and sense of possibility that time on the water can provide.”
