Yamaha supports marine students at Bournemouth & Poole College

Yamaha has reinforced its commitment to developing the next generation of marine engineers by donating a fully operational F100 cutaway outboard engine to Bournemouth & Poole College. The engine, which has been specially commissioned for educational use, will serve as a vital training aid for students studying within the College’s renowned Marine Engineering department.

The donation marks the beginning of a formal partnership between Yamaha Motor Europe and Bournemouth & Poole College, focused on strengthening pathways into marine engineering careers and ensuring students have access to the latest industry technologies and training. During a recent visit to the College’s Poole campus, Yamaha UK’s Training and Development team toured the facilities and met with academic staff to discuss future collaboration opportunities.

Based on the South Coast, Bournemouth & Poole College is one of the largest further education providers in the country, with a strong reputation for delivering vocational training that meets industry needs. The Marine Engineering department is at the forefront of technical education in the sector, offering apprenticeships and full-time courses that equip students with practical skills and experience working with industry-standard equipment and technologies. The department maintains close partnerships with leading employers to help address the skills gap in the maritime and engineering industries.

Sam Watson, Service & Development Manager at Yamaha Motor Europe, said: “We had a fantastic day at Bournemouth & Poole College, meeting their highly motivated team and seeing their impressive facilities. We are proud to supply them with a Yamaha F100 cutaway outboard, which marks the start of an exciting partnership, and we look forward to supporting the College as they continue to develop skilled and capable engineers for the marine industry.”

Peter Leech, Learning Manager for Marine, Boatbuilding and Automotive at Bournemouth & Poole College, added: “This partnership will make a tangible difference to the quality of education we’re able to provide. We are incredibly grateful to Yamaha for their support and look forward to working together to deliver world-class training and develop a highly skilled, future-ready workforce for the marine industry.”

The collaboration with Yamaha forms part of the College’s broader mission to provide employer-led training and further strengthen its curriculum by working alongside sector-leading brands.
