UKSA has been named the official Charity of the Year 2025 by Maritime Solent, following a competitive selection process that recognised the organisation’s impactful work across the Isle of Wight and internationally.
The judges were particularly impressed with UKSA’s focus on the Isle of Wight community — especially its commitment to giving every Year 6 child on the Island access to a fully funded sailing experience through its Test the Water programme. The programme is made possible thanks to the generous support of headline sponsor WightFibre.
Anne-Marie Mountifield, Chair of Maritime Solent, said: “We’re thrilled to be partnering with UKSA as the Maritime Solent Charity Partner for 2025-26. The impact of the work the team is doing on the Isle of Wight with school children in particular is significant and we’re really excited to work together over the coming year to support with further raising their profile in the industry.”
UKSA is a maritime youth charity with a bold vision: a future where the seas inspire and empower everyone to reach their full potential. Based on the Isle of Wight, the organisation offers life-changing experiences and training to more than 4,800 young people every year, many of whom face significant barriers to participation.
Through bursaries, outreach, and inclusive programming, UKSA opens doors to careers in shipping, watersports, superyachts, and beyond. Their commitment to inclusion ensures that every young person, regardless of background, can succeed in the marine industry.
“We’re absolutely delighted that UKSA has been selected as Maritime Solent’s Charity Partner. It’s a tremendous honour and a valuable opportunity to showcase the transformative impact of the UKSA’s work with children and young people—particularly those from the Isle of Wight and across the Solent region. With the support of Maritime Solent and its partners, we’ll be able to reach even more young people to equip them with the skills, confidence, and qualifications they need to build bright futures in the maritime industry. Together, we will inspire the next generation and help create a maritime sector that is truly inclusive, accessible, and full of opportunity.” Cat Dixon CEO.
Over the coming year, the collaboration will feature joint events, dedicated marketing activity, and a promotional film spotlighting UKSA’s work, which is being premiered this week, during the 2025 Maritime Solent Awards.
