Sunsail and The Moorings unveil major upgrades at The Moorings Yacht Club base in the British Virgin Islands

Sunsail and The Moorings have announced a series of upgrades to their shared British Virgin Islands base at The Moorings Yacht Club in Tortola. Long established as one of the world’s most iconic sailing hubs, the resort has been refreshed with new facilities and enhancements designed to give guests an even more seamless start and finish to their Caribbean adventures.

The BVI has long been considered a sailor’s paradise, with calm trade winds, sheltered anchorages, and short line-of-sight passages between the islands. Now, Sunsail and The Moorings customers will enjoy not only one of the best sailing grounds in the world, but also an enhanced base experience at the newly upgraded Moorings Yacht Club Hotel & Resort.

Recent updates include:

  • A new onsite provisioning market with a deli, offering convenient shopping for crews and guests preparing to set sail.
  • An updated pool area, ideal for pre- or post-charter relaxation.
  • A renovated Charlie’s Bar & Restaurant and refreshed Moorings Yacht Club Restaurant, complete with pool bar and waterfront dining.
  • A water sports shop by Caribbean Divers, providing rental equipment for extra on-the-water fun.
  • HIHO boutique shop, showcasing locally inspired island wear and gifts.
  • A spa with a full menu of treatments, perfect for unwinding after a day at sea.
  • Beautiful hotel rooms with ocean or marina views, many recently refreshed, ensuring comfort and convenience throughout every stay.

All of this is within walking distance of local shops and a large supermarket, adding further ease to holiday preparations.

Accommodation at the Moorings Yacht Club Hotel includes ocean-view and marina-view rooms, each with air conditioning, Wi-Fi, cable TV, and private balconies. With friendly staff on hand and easy access to Sunsail and The Moorings’ charter base at Wickhams Cay II, it’s the perfect place for sailors to relax before or after setting sail.

Katrina Lawson, Head of Brand & Acquisition, said: “We are delighted to unveil these upgrades at our long-standing BVI base. The Moorings Yacht Club has always been a favourite with sailors, and these new facilities make the experience even more enjoyable, combining world-class sailing with comfort, convenience, and a touch of luxury.”

The BVI remains one of the most popular destinations for Sunsail and The Moorings, known for its warm hospitality, crystal-clear waters, and legendary island-hopping itineraries. From Tortola, guests can explore more than 50 islands and cays, from the dramatic rock formations of The Baths at Virgin Gorda to the lively beach bars of Jost Van Dyke and the unspoiled anchorages of Anegada.
