Applications for maritime charities to put themselves in the spotlight by partnering with the Maritime Solent Awards 2025 as Charity of The Year will open on Monday 30 June 2025.
Maritime charities delivering the majority of their work in the Solent region are encouraged to apply to partner with the Awards for 2025 as it enters its fourth year.
The prestigious Maritime Solent Awards celebrates the very best of maritime talent, innovation and skills in the Solent’s world-class sector. The current charity partner is Rona Sailing Project, a charity providing transformative sailing experiences with a mission to provide offshore sail training opportunities for young people and certain adults to acquire those attributes of a sailor, namely: a sense of responsibility, resourcefulness and teamwork, which will help throughout their lives.
Sarah Woodman, Director of the Rona Sailing Project, said: “Being the charity partner has opened a number of doors for us to be able to share the work of the Rona Sailing Project with local businesses, educational establishments and to a wider audience via their extensive network. We have been included in several events and meetings and had a fabulous film created about the Project. Alongside increasing awareness of our life-changing sail training opportunities, the charity has benefited from an increase in people wishing to volunteer or support us financially or in another way.”
Maritime Solent will partner with the chosen charity to raise awareness of its work and further strengthen reputation among key audiences throughout the year, starting at the Finalists Celebration Event in September and at the gala awards evening itself on 23 October.
Anne-Marie Mountifield, Chair of Maritime Solent, said: “It has been an honour to partner with three incredible charities since the Maritime Solent Awards began. The Rona Sailing Project’s fantastic work with young people teaching skills, resilience and inspiring self-confidence has been awe-inspiring to see. Partnering with the team to raise awareness of this important work has been fantastic to be part of.”
Maritime Solent has previously partnered with the Wetwheels Foundation (https://wetwheelsfoundation.org/wetwheels-operator/wetwheels-solent/) and The Sail Training Trust (https://sailtrainingtrust.org/).
The closing date for applications is 31 July 2025.
