Greenpeace UK has commissioned XS RIBS to build a custom XS 700 boat, supporting them in their various environmentally led operations, aimed at safeguarding the future of our planet.
The craft, which has been built to the charity’s precise specification, is powered by Greenpeace UK’s preferred outboard brand, Yamaha. This is not the first time XS RIBS has been approached by Greenpeace to create a purpose-built boat for its operations, with the charity first working with the team in the 1980s. Demonstrating years of boat-building expertise, many of those specialists had a hand in building its first Greenpeace commission all those years ago.
Laurence Lock, Managing Director at XS RIBS, says: “Our team are the same in part that made the original Greenpeace boats years ago, so when we say we have over 100 years of collective experience in building and supplying custom RIBS, we really mean it.
“We believe that continuity is the reason we have various leisure and commercial customers, including Greenpeace, repeatedly coming back to us for purpose-built, made-to-order boats. Not only this, but our customers also appreciate that our boats are built, in their entirety, here in the UK, which allows us full control over the process, ensuring we use the best parts and can oversee our builds from scratch.”
“We’ve partnered with Yamaha for decades, driven by customer demand for elite engines, and we believe that Greenpeace UK has chosen to commission Yamaha’s F 150hp Outboard to power our RIB, due to its enduring reputation for premium quality. There is no doubt that Yamaha is one of the global leaders in this field.”
