Gill Appointed Official Technical Clothing Partner for ExpeditionZero

Gill has been named the Official Technical Clothing Partner for ExpeditionZero.

ExpeditionZero is a purpose-driven boat builder that constructs adventure sailing yachts with the lowest possible environmental impact, optimised for the needs of commercial operators worldwide.

This strategic partnership marks a significant milestone for both brands, as Gill becomes the first major brand to join the Expedition Zero vision. In line with Gill’s ongoing commitment to reduce environmental impact and enhance the eco-credentials of their products, 98% of the newly released OS2 offshore system is made from recycled content. Additionally, all products with durable water repellency (DWR) applied are now free from PFAS. Furthermore, all Gill packaging is made from 100% recycled materials and is fully recyclable.

Meaning the values of both organisations align perfectly: Gill aims for improvement, exploration, and inspiration while minimising environmental impact, which complements ExpeditionZero’s mission to revolutionise ocean exploration through sustainable yacht design.

Gill will supply technical apparel for all ExpeditionZero yachts. Charter operators and their crews will gain access to Gill’s high-performance gear, trusted in the world’s harshest marine environments, providing a unique opportunity to use, test, and give feedback on equipment designed for real expedition conditions.

Andy Hindley, a board member at ExpeditionZero and former COO of the America’s Cup, said: “This partnership is a perfect fit. Gill’s reputation for innovation, performance, and reliability makes them the ideal apparel partner for sustainable offshore exploration. As we push the limits of what’s possible in net-zero sailing, we need partners who share our vision and understand the demands of operating in the world’s most challenging environments.”

Matt Clark, Product Development and Sustainability Director at Gill, added: “Working with ExpeditionZero gives us a unique opportunity to test and refine our technical clothing in the exact conditions our gear is designed for—open ocean, high-latitude expeditions, and extended offshore use. These yachts represent the future of sustainable marine operations, and we’re proud to support a project that blends innovation, environmental leadership, and commercial viability. This is where performance apparel should be: at the heart of progress.”

Built from recyclable materials and powered entirely by renewable energy, ExpeditionZero yachts are designed to reduce the environmental impact of sailing by up to 90%. The first ExpeditionZero yacht, an upcycled Challenge 72, is currently undergoing refit in France and is scheduled to launch in 2026. Once operational, it will be available for charter by commercial operators in sectors such as marine research, filming, and high-end adventure tourism.

A flagship expedition through the Northwest Passage is scheduled for 2027 and will be bookable through ExpeditionZero’s sister company, Wavysail Adventures.
