The largest gathering of Fife Yachts in Scotland since the Fife Regatta started will take place this June. Celebrating the designs of William Fife, 24 classic yachts dating from 1887-1950, will return to their spiritual home on the Clyde.
Gatherings on home waters are rare with the last event taking place in 2013. The enduring elegance of the classic yachts provide a moving insight into Scotland’s proud marine heritage and global legacy. The fleet is comprised of day boats, cruising and racing yachts, all with a specific pedigree linked to the Fife dynasty. They are captured on home waters in the official event print by marine artist Alastair Houston.
With the start date just over a month away the fleet are in various stages of preparation, from Red (1886/2021), a replica of the first ever Clyde one design, coming together in the Stagnol yard in Brittany, to those like Kentra (1923), who have launched and lie in wait by the village of Fairlie.
Cambria (1928), the largest Fife yacht ever built, features in the official Fife Regatta print having entered this year’s regatta. However, her presence will be sadly missed as she had to withdraw shortly before her 94th anniversary.
