The first offshore bass boat trip of 2026 was nothing short of unforgettable an adventure that delivered big fish, brutal conditions, and memories that will last all season. Among them were two truly special captures: double-figure bass that tested tackle, technique, and nerves before being safely brought to the boat. See the next photo too.

Geoff Millington’s biggest smoothhound caught just off Brambles bank in the Solent. He thinks it was well over 20lbs.

During the SAC25 Crewaver Southsea Marina event Mike Long caught this lovely chunky Bass with Mick Teague as Team Ex-Squid-Sit. It was caught at Christchurch Ledge and measured 65cm which is Mike’s PB. 

a stunning Cuckoo wrasse caught on the reefs off Beer in Devon by Mike Spiller.

Caught in Christchurch bay just off Milford on Sea, Hampshire by Sean Marsh. The ray weighed 14lb and was as safely returned. Other catches that day included black bream, dog fish and Bull Huss. All caught from Sean’s kayak.
