QUEENS HARBOUR MASTER PORTSMOUTH LOCAL NOTICE TO MARINERS

  1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the Queen's Harbour Master Portsmouth that a Round the Isle of Wight Charity Relay Swim in aid of Help for Heroes and other Charities will take place on Saturday 4 September 2010.
  2. Six swimmers will be taking part in the event but only one swimmer will be in the water at any one time; the swimmer will be closely followed by a kayak. In addition, the Motor Cruiser DARK ANGEL acting as a Mother Craft (Call Sign MFCJ3) will be accompanying the swimmer and kayak. The DARK ANGEL will display the International Code ‘ALPHA’ Flag, in daylight hours and the lights for a vessel engaged in Special Operations during the hours of darkness whilst escorting the swimmer.
  3. The proposed route of the swim is from Ryde Pier going anti-clockwise around the Isle of Wight. The swim will be starting at approximately 0730 and is anticipated to finish back at Ryde Pier at approximately 2130.
  4. All mariners are requested to keep a good lookout and pass well clear of the swimmer and the support craft during their circumnavigation of the Isle of Wight.
