With next year's Liverpool Boat Show drawing ever nearer, and both speculation and debate raging in boating circles, British Waterways has just announced their support for the show in the form of a £500,000 investment deal.
In a bid to both continue the development of Liverpool’s historic waterfront, and provide additional infrastructure for the 2011 event, part of BW’s support will come in the form of more than 600m of pontoons that will remain after the show to enhance the Albert and Salthouse docks.
Commenting on this very substantial deal the Northern Head of Regeneration of BW, Julie Sharman, says, "The regeneration of Liverpool’s docklands and canal link has been a major part of the transformation of the city over the last decade. The Albert Dock is an excellent venue for national events and it’s great to be able to contribute towards the continued success of an area which has become a shining example of regeneration excellence."
At the current state of play the Liverpool Boat Show, due to run from April 29th – May 8th 2011, has already passed its £1m target for sponsorship. In addition the organisers have said that a media spend well in excess of £750,000, and additional promotional resources from show partners, will positively dwarf the promotional spend of other boat shows in the UK.
