An_RNLI_lifeguard_WoolacombeAre you starting to think of challenges for the New Year ahead? Have you got what it takes to be part of a team that helps save lives at sea? Becoming an RNLI lifeguard could be the challenge you’re looking for.

As thousands of beachgoers flock to the coast every summer, the RNLI are looking to recruit trained lifeguards to join the team next season. Recruitment for 2013 lifeguards will open on February 1st, and the charity are particularly on the lookout for lifeguards to be based on beaches in West Dorset and Christchurch.

Anyone who is interested will need to have a recognised lifeguard qualification (such as an NBLQ) and be fit and healthy and capable of swimming 400m in under 7½ minutes, 200m in under 3½ minutes and running 200m on sand in under 40 seconds. Once recruited, the charity will provide a high standard of additional training in lifesaving and casualty care, along with up-to-date equipment.

Applicants can find out more by visiting www.rnli.org/lifeguards, and apply at www.rnli.org/jobs.
