David Beckham speedboat

The Bladerunner RIB 35 speedboat used by David Beckham to carry the Olympic torch up the River Thames to the Olympic Park during the opening ceremony has failed to reach its reserve price at auction.

Although the speedboat no longer had its "Olympic paraphernalia" it still had the torchbearer seat and the four fake rockets used to emit smoke. Despite its historic Olympic association, the craft received a high bid of £180,000, some way off the expected £250,000, when put under the hammer at Brooklands in Weybridge.
