Bayliner and Garmin: New Bed Partners

Bayliner and Garmin have just announced that all US Bayliner navigation packages will exclusively feature Garmin instrumentation and electronics starting with 2011 model boats.

In a statement Bayliner’s vice president and brand manager, Betsy Lazara said, "In comparing product features, pricing and overall value, we believe Garmin is clearly the best choice and is a recognized leader in GPS mapping and VHF technology."

Although Bayliner already offer Garmin electronics on their cruiser range, exclusive packages will also appear on other Bayliner boats by September.

Those with long memories will recall that a similar electronics packaging deal was offered by Boston Whaler. However the excessive cost to customers ordering their boats with pre-installed electronics, as opposed to buying the same items from after market suppliers, resulted in a fairly low uptake. As long as Bayliner do not make the same mistake the advantages of getting your new boat with factory fitted electronics, fully installed and tested, are obvious.
