The award-winning Hypo Hoist Man OverBoard (MOB) recovery system from SeaSafe Systems has been redesigned for ease of use on smaller boats, including RIBS, small workboats and other recreational open boats. It retains all the key benefi ts of the original ‘big boat’ version - namely, the ability to rescue a man overboard at speed, while minimising risk of injury. But the smaller ladder-free design can be deployed and operated by one person, making it ideal for lightly crewed craft as an aid to safety.
Jeremy Dale, MD of SeaSafe, said: “Feedback from our customers, particularly in the small boat sailing and watersports community, who often face the challenge of getting a tired, cold person back onto a safety boat or other RIB, made us realise there was a need for a small boat version of Hypo Hoist. It was quite straightforward to modify the original model so that it was still easy to use and just as effective in MOB recovery. And by eliminating the ladder, which is not needed for small craft, it reduced the cost of manufacture and therefore the selling price, making it more affordable for owners and users of small craft, including sailing and watersports clubs that operate safety boats.”
