Cross Solent Charity Swim: 5 September 2010
  1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the Queen's Harbour Master Portsmouth that a Cross Solent Swim in aid of the Watts Gallery Hope Emergency Appeal and the RNLI – Bembridge Lifeboat Appeal will take place at 1300 on Sunday 5 September 2010.
  2. Three swimmers will be taking part in the event and each swimmer will be closely followed by a kayak. In addition, there will be an 8.5 metre white, orange and blue Cobra RIB acting as a Mother Craft (Call Sign WIGHT CHARTER TWO) accompanying the swimmers and kayaks. The WIGHT CHARTER TWO will display the International Code ‘ALPHA’ Flag, whilst escorting the swimmer.
  3. The proposed route of the swim is from Gilkicker Point to Ryde West Sands via the North Sturbridge Buoy. The swimmers will be starting at approximately 1300.
  4. All mariners are requested to keep a good lookout and pass well clear of the swimmers and the support craft during their crossing of the Solent.
